The Rosco R38 Hand Coffee Grinder is a premium quality hand operated manual coffee grinder designed to grind roasted coffee beans. The Rosco R38 is a precision instrument capable of producing extremely accurate, consistent and repeatable grinds ranging from coarse plunger style through to espresso and even the finest Turkish grind.
Designed to work with the Rossa Espresso models
The Rosco R38 Hand Coffee Grinder is an integral part of the Portaspresso Specialty Coffee System, which also includes the Rossa Hand Espresso and Rossa Air Espresso models. The Rossa's filter head fits into the Rosco, which enables the coffee beans to be ground directly into the basket. The grinding process effectively pre-tamps the coffee as it is ground, which makes the coffee making process quicker, easier, and cleaner.
Complete new design
Breaking away from the foundation design of the original Rosco grinder, the Rosco R38 Hand Coffee Grinder has been completely redesigned to improve usability, disassembly and ease of cleaning.
Grind size adjustments can be made with effortless speed and accuracy
The grind setting adjustment has been moved to the top of the grinder with a new design that requires very little force to secure the setting. The new design removes all grinding forces from the adjustment setting to prevent any possibility of the setting moving during grinding and eliminates the risk of the locking ring tightening over time.
Easily remove the spindle assembly
The new design allows the spindle assembly to be completely removed from the main body to enable full access to areas where coffee residue can accumulate.
The female burr can now be removed by hand
Previous Rosco models required a special tool to remove the female burr from the cutter body. It can now be removed by hand to make it easier to clean, and also enables the burr set to be replaced with minimal effort.

The engineering and workmanship of the Rosco R38 is unmatched. Every manufactured metal component is precision machined from brass stock. Continuing with the previous Rosco updates, sealed bearings are used throughout for consistently smooth and accurate operation under grinding load, and all components that effect concentricity and alignment of the cutting mechanism are machined in one setup to ensure correct burr set alignment.
The Rosco R38 uses a 38mm conical burr set to provide a balance between grinding speed and ease of operation, and the step-less adjustment design provides very fine and repeatable grind size settings. Adjustments as small as 0.01mm are easily achieved, and the same setting can be regained with confidence after using a previous setting or even after completely disassembling the grinder.
While the Rosco R38 Hand Coffee Grinder has been specifically designed to work in conjunction with the Rossa Hand Espresso and Rossa Air Espresso models, the supplied screw-in cup fits into the Rosco to enable you to capture ground coffee for use in any coffee making device. The common and critical factor that applies to all extraction methods is the need to use fresh ground coffee. The Rosco enables you to precision grind your favourite coffee beans as required to ensure the finest coffee experience.
